Summer holidays at Noosa

Hi Family, Reece and I having such a lovely holiday with Jo, Rich, Lucas and Emily. We are at the Big 4 Caravan Park in Tewantin. It is a 10 minute drive to Main Beach in Noosa and Hasting St. The park is now nearly full with holidayers in all sorts of caravans and tents, many with Xmas lights on at night. It is remarkably quiet in spite of lots of kids about. They are all usually in bed early, just like me!!! Our site is on the edge of the park so we don't have neighbours on all sides which is very nice. Some trees surround and lots of lawn. They are good big sites. Jo and Rich in a small two bed cottage where we have our evening meal together. Good air con and nice big verandah where the kids play in their new $8 paddling pool. Good pool here which we have used a lot. The kids pool is great. Lucas a whizz at doing all sorts of twisty underwater tricks. We have been to the beach first thing most mornings. Water beautiful and clear. Great fun watching the fish swimming amongst us. Emily vey brave in the shallow and loving the waves.weather has been perfect. Just looked like rain yesterday but only a short spell, and it became extremely humid.... Just what I hate.. Tis morning now as I write at 0630 the sun is shining so looks like another great day.
We had a perfect day for Xmas. We were up early unwrapping pressies. Such excitement. Then down to the beach home for a rear then we has a late lunch early dinner about 5 starting with champagne and some delicious prawns from Tin Can Bay. Then ham and a woolies turkey roll cooked in the electric frypan...no oven at Jo's... Finished with a yummy chocolate plum pudding bought from the Balnarring Markets when we were with Vance and Annie. And of course ice cream and custard.all pretty good. What a big crowd at Rozza's.. I'm sure it was a lovely day.
Reece and I leave here on Jan 3 and we will pick up Ray Bland on the way near Brisbane. We will travel together to Melbourne where they will take the Tassie Ferry to Devonport on Jan12 and travel about while I am in WA. I will arrive in Perth on Jan 11 and return to Hobart on Jan 26 where I will meet Reece and Ray. Ray will then return home and Reece and I will stay in Tassie longer. So Reece and Ray will play together. Jo and Rich leave here on Jan 3 and will then have 2 nights at Coolum just down the road before they fly home to Sydney on Jan 5. Then I don't know when we will see them again??? Probably not will abut April May when we head north again to " do" Queensland.
Well I hope you have all had a fun Xmas and now enjoying some holiday time... For some anyway. I remember clearly working Xmas day etc etc now never again!!! I am not even registered to work!!! I haven't renewed me nursing reg....

Pool

I am happy ... I have found a beautiful lagoon type pool near the surf club at Sutton Beach. Lots of people there today enjoying the weather.

Scarborough, Brisbane

We are enjoying the sunshine at Scarborough Holiday Village which is 30 mins north of Brisbane. It is in Moreton Bay which unfortunately doesn't have speccie beaches. Lots of mangrove areas and tidal. Nice park opposite the marina and fishing harbour. No pool so need to drive to Suttons Beach for a swim about ten mins by car. Gardens very tropical and the fragrance from the frangipani is beautiful. Leave here Wed for Tewantin then Jo and fam join us on Sat. Hope you are all well and not getting too drained by the heat. Humidity pretty high which makes me so tired and sticky. I know definitely now I cannot live in the tropics.
Lots of love Penelope

Christmas

The yellow cottage is cousin Margie Cowlings in the town of Creswick. So cute. Couldn't resist the pic our car next to the ? Ferrari.... then another cute cottage at a lavender farm in Daylesford. Our neighbour tonight at Daylesford is a lawnmower racer. They modify a ride on mower and put a motor bike engine in it. Interesting hobby..... roast lamb tonight. Cockies screeching. Sun out till nearly nine pm with daylight saving.

Great Ocean Road, Victoria

Left Balnarring yesterday morning early to get the 0700 ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliffe across Port Phillip Bay, a 45 min journey. It was very efficient driving on and off,,, not like our experience in Italy getting off the ferry with every car pushing and jostling jostling for position. This was very ordered and we were on our way to start our journey along the Famous Great Ocean Road. We stayed at Cumberland River Campsite which was beautiful as you can see in the pics. There has been a lot of rain so all the creeks are running rapidly and the ground is sodden. The road along certainly is very scenic and spectacular. Today we are at Apollo Bay. A lovely holiday town ( as is Lorne) some specci houses perched on hillsides. We are right over the road from the beach and very pleasing now to finally see the sun shine. Will move on tomorrow and have another night on the ocean road before we get to Port Fairy.
Reece is cooking fish tonight ... Some ling we got here. Ling is such an ugly fish. It is known as Rockling and is big, long , pink and a very ugly face. Daylight saving here means it doesn't get dark till 9pm. We are tucked up well before then.....
