Noosa

Hi All,
It has been a little while...

We are now in Noosa at the Noosa River Caravan Park which is right on the river near to the beach. We have a great site at the back which looks onto a park and on a corner so we actually only have one neighbour and heaps of room. A good cement slab for the van and nice grassed area about. The birds are awake early just at sunrise and continue their songs all day. On dusk just before 5.30 the bats fly in from god knows where. They make such an ugly squark then rest in the paperbark trees along the rivers edge. Then they poop on the cars parked underneath. The paperbark trees are in flower, a pretty soft yellow droopy thing but the perfume is very pungent and sour. I find it awful, fortunately non near to us.
Jill and Joe Poupe our friends from Tassie are here. And also Kay and Paul Foster too. Kay is Chris Hurley sister. All good company. We are having dinner at the Foster van tonight. Paul very keen to cook on his rotisserie.... We will be leaving Noosa on Sat ( today is Tuesday ) and head west. We will meet up with Kay and Paul in Longreach. We will then go to Hughenden to see Tenille Jolly ( she married a farmer from the TV show) she and Frank are on a big cattle station. It is four hours west of Townsville, so very much outback, remote... Then on to Cairns and we are hoping to catch up with Gil and Sheryl Waller ( Liz sister) who are sailing about on their lovely big yacht. If we can we might have a few days on board with them!!!!!

The weather very nice. Humidity minimal so ok for me and 25 26 degrees. We had a lovely swim at Main Beach where the water was crystal clear and lots of Bream swimming in the shallows. The water here at the park is nice so I have had a flop around each day. We are using the kayak daily , Reece out now hoping to catch a fish. I paddle about for an bout up and down the canals gawking at the huge houses. Most seem to be empty and almost every one has a swimming pool and a boat moored. There are so many apartments for rent and plenty for sale....
It has been nice to stop for a while and enjoy some company and the sunshine. The nice thing about Noosa is there is no high rise like Gold Coast. Max height here seems to be six stories. Gold Coast has massively high buildings and a lot pretty awful. We had a big drive around there and went on to Sovereign Island. Ooh an artificial island reclaimed mangroves area now all houses . All a bit twee and Jetson like. Gardens immaculate but I felt there was no character. Houses enormous ... Just how many bedrooms do you need and all those dunnies to clean. Give me the caravan any time!!!!! Of course all on canals and all with boats and the pool....

Hoping everyone is happy....

Love Penelop

Gold coast

We were able to buy beautiful fresh prawns straight off the boats. Good price and delicious.

Waiting

Being very patient at the Telstra shop AGAIN in Toowoomba. We were here for an hour yesterday but problem not fixed even after a very long and frustrating call to the big pond people in the Philippines. So we are back and guess what they are exchanging the modem. Hooray. As you can see Reece in need of a hair cut which will be done by our friend Joe in Noosa in a few days. We are now leaving Brisbane and heading for Jupiter casino on the gold coast. We have left the van at Kedron to have a two day service. Tonight we are having dinner with Paul and Kay foster who are traveling in their van from Melbourne. Kay is Chris Hurley sister. Love Pen

Omg

Our neighbours here in Goondiwindi have moved from south coast NSW to Tweed Heads!! I know why... Their daughter lived nearby and she is having her eighth baby on ten years!! So needed to be well away from baby sitting duties....

Burning mountsin

Leaving Sydney

Oh happy day and sad day. Mothers Day today and we had a fabulous brunch cooked by Jo topped off with some yummy champagne. A sad day coz we leave Sydney tomorrow and start our adventure to Queensland and won't see the family again til we return to Sydney for Xmas and January.
Great to see mum coming along so well after her hip replacement. And I enjoyed my golf with Anthea and a game of bridge with the girls while in Perth.
We have packed as much as we can tonight in preparation of leaving early tomorrow am. I was looking forward to a night of TV but somehow I seem to have broken it and can't get reception. I think I did something peculiar when I attached my iPad to watch the footy.,so no TV... Bugger.
Happy mothers Day. Love Pen

SSO concert

What s beautiful day. Sydney symphony concert at the opera house with Auntie Diney. Rousing Rachmaninoff, then young Russian pianist. Fantastic. Then off to Randwick for some special time with Lucas and Emily. A great day. Thank you.
