Most of you will remember Tony's friend Mandy (Miranda) Edmonds from uni days.. Well we met by complete coincidence her parents in law Julie and Bernie from Nedlands. They are camped right next to us... So we have had some laughs and dinner together last night. They are going south to Seven Emu Downs and us the other way...
Some blokes went fishing yesterday. We are moving to King Ash Bay today and will camp alongside the MacArthur River...

Borroloola. Northern Territory

So today we are in Borraloola near the McArthur River. Shop prices expensive. Strawberries $9 a pun net Diesel $1.60 Cheaper than Focker River $2.50. I have never seen sugar sold in paint tins. Warm and sunny and a little breeze. The usual indigenous wandering the streets. Houses ordinary and don't seem to have any pride in keeping tidy yards or anything like a garden. Did see a sign which said you will befriend if your dog is outside your yard in the street. So no dogs roaming. Seeing lots of tropical trees now.

Tablelands Highway

After Barkly it was a long drive north on the Tablelands Highway. A single lane road and a bit bumpy. Had to move right off the road when the cattle trucks etc came through. Often with four tests so they are bloody big buggers. Amazing stretch of Savannah country and thick with feed.

Barrow Creek

Funny pub with all sorts of bits and pieces everywhere. Just near this place is where the English guy was shot and his girlfriend Joanne Lees was abducted but lucky to escape. Tried to get a pic of locals enjoying a VB. Beer in the background. It was after lunch.

Borroloola

Oh god we have hit the humidity !!! We are at Borroloola which is a sma town on the west side of the Gulf Big drive yesterday from Barkly Homestead on to the Tablelands highway through magnificent Savannah country ... It is only 0800 and I can feel the oppressiveness of humidity. I'll be a ball of sweat by 0900. Thank goodness for our fans and air cond. off to explore crocodile country .. Will send pics later.
