Subject: Back ar Narrabeen, Sydney
We had a vey interesting morning on Sat. We drove from Rylstone to Kandos only 7 km away. Again a smallish town but doesn't have the charm and quaint buildings that sits neighbour Rylstone has. We went to visit a display of old Harley motorises. This man has been collecting them for 30 years. It is the biggest collection of such old ones in Australia... More than 25 thay range from 1912, some used in the wars, truly amazing and well worth the visit. Such an interesting character. They are housed in the original town hall which then became the picture theatre with sloping floor, then abandoned until he acquired it . He has to tool many of the parts himself as of course non available. Then home to settle into the footy... The day was extremely blustery. I think Sydney was awful. Anyway, I was thrilled to be watching the footy and yelling at them when they missed too many shots at goals.... Bugger,,, but we were not good epigh on the day. It would have been fantastic to share all of this with the crowd in freo. Liz and Keith net some snaps of the event ..thanks.
Yesterday we drove from Rylstone to Narrabeen on the northern beaches of Sydney. A slow drive because they are working on the road through the Blue Mountains, Katoomba. Very slow and we have done that road three times now so we don't need to do it again until the new road is in. However it is very pretty. Then onto the M7 and quick as a flash into Sydney. Good road the to mona vale and here. It is school, holidays so the park is quite busy but is is gorgeous to here all the kids having such fun. I actually went over to a family las night. The kids were in the tent playing with torches, laughing and yelling. Just had to let the parents know how it was great to hear kids having such fun.
Weather is glorious. Meant to be 28 today. Beach over the road and the river next door.
You will all know Palm Beach.. Well there was a it fire at Barenjoey point where the lighthouse is. It is tight at the tip at Palm Beach, very lucky they didn't lose the lighthouse etc. there is such a lot of bush and trees around Sydney. Plenty I'd national parks, surprising there hasn't been more devastation in the past. We will see the grandies later today and have dinner with them. Reece has a Cardiology check up tomorrow then we will go up the Hawkesbury river to a park there, then back to Lane Cove and home for me. Keith arrives the same day I leave for Perth after playing masters bowls comp in Melbourne. They will go to Bathurst and do the circuit,Parkes, and Bourke.
Looking forward to seeing you all very soon
Much love
Pen
