Taking it easy in Mapleton

Hi all, well we are really enjoying this part of the country. This little pocket is so pretty. It is on the Blackall Range, the hinterland of sunshine coast. We have today had a lovely drive and done the circuit to Kenilworth, Maleny, Montvill and home. It is pretty high and the roads very windy to get down into the valley. First stop after windy rainforest road was the Mapelton Falls. The view to the valley below spectacular. We will do the walk over the weekend. On we went to Kenilworth through some beautiful valley full of cattle and moo cows. Straight to the Kenilworth Cheese Factory and bought ourselves a yummy macadamia and ginger ice cream!!!!!!!!so delicious. Bought some cheese. Ginger cheddar, and other at all such good prices. Next stop was the town of Malaney which reminded me a little of Margaret River in that the main road goes up a gentle hill and quite interesting shops. Driving on to stop at Boreen dam. Very big dam with great facilities for picnics etc. next stop Maleney cheese shop where we had a quiche and salad. And bought ginger yoghurt and some natural yoghurt. Drove through Montville which is the prettiest town with really beautiful shops either side of the road. All the way there are B and B and heaps of places to stay. The views are stunning and you can see the ocean. A truly gorgeous area. I could easily have a weekender here and come up from the coast. The gardens are so pretty too. Camellia hedges. Gardenia hedges. Everything so green.
We are cooking spicy prawns for dinner.
Tomorrow will go to Yandina markets and get some veg etc. there are weekly produce markets all quite close.
Hoping to get a decent tv reception tonight to watch silent witness...
Lots of love
Penelope
