King Ash Bay to Darwin

Hi family. We left King Ash Bay as the sun was coming up on Wed as we needed to get to Darwin quickly. Our solar panel isn't working very well and we need this when we bush/free camp. So it was more than 1000kms to drive. A long way when we average 80 per hour. Reece has just gone to the agent now so let's hope he has good news when he returns. Really enjoyed King Ash Bay. Every night at 6.30 the fruit thousands of fruit bats would fly across the river. Quite a sight. It is run by the fishing club who have the land lease from the aboriginals. Very good facilities and a really close community arrives each year and stay for months to enjoy the fishing and volunteers do all the maintenance. Run the club. Gardening etc etc. stopped for cuppa at Cape Crawford where the campsite is called Heartbreak Hotel. So will do a few touristy things over the weekend. Hoping to have a feed of chilli mud crabs. Viv arrives June 17 and we will explore Kakadu when she is here. It is 0730 and just had a little stroll outside. The air is heavy and a very strong perfume of tropical plants flowers in the air.
